The Idea
What it's about
simmetry.ai is an innovative start-up from Osnabrück and a spin-off of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). With a focus on agriculture and agri-food, simmetry.ai facilitates the development and use of AI by generating synthetic data. This data solves challenges such as missing data volumes, complex labeling and unclear legal frameworks.
Our technology makes it possible to realistically model plants and their properties in a simulation environment and generate perfectly labeled images. In this way, we support applications such as selective hoeing or spraying with reduced use of pesticides. Our AI models also optimize processes in the food industry by evaluating primary products and making their processing more efficient and sustainable.
The team
Who is behind it
The simmetry.ai team, consisting of Prof. Stefan Stiene, Kai von Szadkowski and Anton Elmiger, combines expertise in mechanical engineering, biology, AI and agricultural engineering. With many years of experience in AI development, we have set ourselves the goal of overcoming one of the biggest challenges in AI development - access to high-quality and precise data - and thus enabling innovative solutions for agriculture and the agri-food sector.
