What it's about
According to UN studies, over 25 % of our food resources are contaminated with highly toxic mould toxins (mycotoxins) - a problem that will be massively exacerbated by climate change. SAFIA Technologies has developed a revolutionary multiplex rapid test system that makes it possible to detect all relevant mycotoxins precisely, quickly and cost-effectively in just one measurement.
Our rapid test system is aimed at customers in the food industry as well as specialised commercial laboratories to comprehensively and efficiently test for life-threatening contaminants. As a result, food companies can be protected from costly recalls and consumers can be protected from health risks in the long term. With our innovative technology, we are making a decisive contribution to food safety and the protection of health.
The team
Who is behind it
SAFIA Technologies was founded by Timm and Peter as a spin-off from the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM). The team is complemented by Nick, who makes a decisive contribution to the company's success with his many years of industrial experience. New on board are Franziska and Svenja, who support the company in research and sales respectively. SAFIA is a young and dynamic team that wants to expand further in the coming years in order to promote its innovative technology worldwide.
In 2024, as a finalist in the German Food Startup Award, we got to know the great team at Seedhouse - a real stroke of luck! Just a few months later, we are proud to be part of the Accelerator. The strong network and close proximity to the industry are an absolute game changer for us!
