The idea
What it's about

Everyone is talking about changing their diet away from animal-based foods. But to really achieve this, we at ProteinDistillery believe that vegan alternatives must be able to replace all relevant aspects of animal products without having to resort to additives. We have found a way to produce vegan proteins from industrial side streams and waste, e.g. brewer's yeast. We can customise the functional properties of the proteins so that they almost perfectly replicate those of animal proteins. We sell these proteins to food manufacturers and customise them for specific applications. In this way, we enable our customers to produce authentic, vegan alternatives and make our contribution to making vegan alternatives the first choice in food.

The team
Who is behind it

Our team consists of passionate scientists and entrepreneurs with a strong academic background in biotechnology and food science as well as practical experience in scaling and managing companies: Michael Baunach, Dr Tomas Kurz, Christoph Pitter, and Marco Ries.

The Seedhouse Accelerator was an outstanding support during our critical initial phase. Thanks to its expertise and targeted networking, we felt optimally supported at all times. The ability to draw on these resources at any time is invaluable to us.
