What it's about
The demand for and sales of vegan meat substitutes have been rising steadily for a few years now. However, the quality of these products in terms of flavour and texture does not always meet consumer expectations. Particularly in the case of plant-based dried meat substitutes (plant jerky), there is still a wide gap between expectations and reality. This gap can be closed with the newly developed process.
A process has been developed with which jerky and comparable snack products can be produced completely vegan.
The team
Who is behind it
EFS was founded in 2021 by Volker Lammers. The idea for the Plant-Jerky came about during Volker's research activities at the DIL. He takes care of the production processes and is responsible for ensuring product quality. Florian Veen provides support in the further development of products and optimisation of production processes. Dörthe Lammers takes care of all matters relating to contracts, IP management and the procurement of raw materials.
The funding programme enables us to scale up the technology in a short time and thus reduce production costs, so that our plant jerky will be cheaper than the original beef jerky in the medium term.

The Growhouse is the ideal platform for networking and exchanging ideas with other start-ups, companies from the industry and potential business partners. The HTI programme enables us to improve our Plant-Jerky and work together with potential contract producers on the path from raw material to finished product. In terms of sales, production, quality management and food law, we were able to achieve the first milestones!
