The idea
What it's about
BugBell produces dog food of the future - with alternative proteins such as insects or purely plant-based. Due to the constantly growing number of pets and the associated increasing consumption of resources, we see it as our duty to create sustainable and ethically responsible food for our four-legged friends. This requires a holistic approach. We do not see ourselves as advocates of a particular ideology, but as pioneers of a new and responsible way of feeding animals. So that we can continue to ensure the nutrition of our furry friends in the future.
By selecting high-quality and beneficial ingredients, deficiency symptoms and health problems such as stomach and intestines or skin and coat can be prevented. We are therefore always on the lookout for new, innovative sources of nutrients to promote natural health - from hemp products and rosemary to milk thistle. To ensure that dogs with allergies can be helped safely, the Bugbell team believes that transparency is the key to a healthy dog's life. To this end, we develop our own recipes and product solutions so that we know exactly what is in them. In addition, all recipes are declared 100 per cent openly.
The team
Who is behind it
In 2021, she finally decided to set up her own business together with Arne Mües. He was enthusiastic about the idea and saw the Jamina and Arne have been working together on the BugBell project since its launch in the first batch of the Seedhouse programme. Jamina has a degree in food technology and is responsible for product development, marketing and commercialisation. Arne is responsible for purchasing, controlling and production planning thanks to his professional experience as an engineer and his Master's degree in General Management.
Without the Seedhouse, BugBell would have remained just an idea today. From the very first prototypes to the relationships with investors, everything is deeply rooted in the Seedhouse.

Success story
THE SEEDHOUSE EFFECT
BugBell's odyssey began in the Seedhouse, where an idea and the first prototypes laid the foundations. Initial setbacks, such as the failure to find an investor, turned into an unexpected turning point three years later: investors approached us due to the seedhouse effect. With a small investment, we finally founded BugBell in 2021. Thanks to our initial small successes, we were able to convince heristo AG, a company involved in the seed house, to join forces with us a year later.
With the help of heristo's strong network, we managed to quickly place our products with specialist retailers such as Fressnapf and Futterhaus. These partnerships led to two Fressnapf Innovation Awards and marked BugBell's rise as a driving force for innovation in the pet food industry.
