What it's about
BettaF!sh stands for healthier oceans and a delicious, plant-based future. Based on European organic seaweed, we not only develop the most authentic fish alternatives but also unique algae ingredients for the food industry.
Our fish alternatives taste like the animal original and look just like it. Thanks to seaweed and plant proteins from field beans and peas, BettaF!sh TU-NAH and SAL-NOM taste authentically like seafood - 100% plant-based, rich in protein and free from soya and wheat.
Seaweed belongs on our plates and will help shape the nutrition of our future. We are making them accessible to the food industry by driving forward research and development into this food. To this end, we work together with renowned research institutes to produce new types of algae ingredients and thus utilise undiscovered potential.

Who is behind it
Deniz Ficicioglu became involved with seaweed and its potential as a sustainable food early on as an innovation manager and cookery book author. It was there that she met her co-founder Jacob von Manteuffel, a resource manager who had just made a documentary about seaweed farmers. They quickly realised that seaweed is the answer to many of our sustainability issues.
